As we read the text on our Infinite Whatsapp group one morning, prayer bubbled up with the urgency of compassion for our friend. Sarah* had asked for prayer after receiving a concerning phone call from for her brother who, having had a long and complicated history with drugs, had spoken about killing both his wife and himself. The drugs that had enslaved him seemed to be about to completely destroy his life and that of his wife.
Later that morning Jessica, Debbie and I met with Sarah at a coffee shop near our house. As we chatted it became clear that Sarah’s brother needed to decide for himself to get clean because previously Sarah had forced him to go into rehab only to have him relapse into drugs on leaving. We laid hands on Sarah and began to pray together at the table. Then presence of God tangibly came on all three of us and we began to experience the joy of the Lord right there. All of a sudden Sarah exclaimed “Look gold dust is appearing on my arm right where Nigel’s finger is!” Sure enough there was a small patch of gold dust sparkling in the sun right where I had been attempting to “inject the glory” into her arm. We began to share other testimonies of gold dust appearing whilst continuing to pray. We specifically spoke about a time when they had seen gold dust cover a woman from head to foot and we agreed that it would be marvellous to see it on Sarah as she happened to be dressed in black that day.
Right then I received a prophetic word for a young woman sitting at a table with a friend a little way off. So I went over introduced myself and shared what I felt the Lord saying to her. The young lady and her friend said that the word was spot on, in fact they had just been talking about the exact situation that I had spoken into. Just then Debbie, Jessica and Sarah erupted into joyful exclamations back at their table. When I asked what was going on they showed me that the gold dust had now spread all over Sarah’s body and clothes. She was literally sparkling from head to foot, her skin and clothes looked like she had been liberally sprinkled with glitter. I was so excited I dragged her over to the table I had prophesied to and showed them what God was doing. Soon we were praying for the glory to appear on them as well as they had never experienced anything like it. After a short prayer gold dust appeared on the young woman’s hands and tears began to flow down her cheeks as she sensed God’s presence and love. She told us later that as she drove home she called her Mom and told her what had happened and noticed that the gold dust had spread all over her chest.
Sarah left the coffee shop and went to see her brother. When she arrived it was evident that he was under the influence of drugs but before she could say anything he said “ Sarah, you are sparkling, you are covered with glitter !” Which gave her the opportunity to speak about the Lord with him and share with him what God had just done, something he had been resistant to in the past. When she finished her story he asked her to pray for him confessing that his heart had grown hard towards God. The presence of God washed over them and he suddenly seemed calm and then he turned to his sister and said “I need to go to rehab, I have to get my head straight” without any prompting from Sarah. The next day he was checked in.
What had started as a very bad day became a day filled with miracles.
